Our client is a prominent cement producer offering a variety of cement products for both commercial & residential construction needs.
We are looking for DZ licenced drivers to operate 10-speed manual cement trucks. No experience on cement trucks needed!
- Drivers will be responsible for delivering ready mix concrete to various construction or residential sites (2-5times/day).
- Runs are typically around a 45-minute radius of plant.
- Drivers typically use the same vehicle each day. Our client has both never and order trucks available.
- Start times are typically between 5 – 8am. Drivers will call in at the end of each shift to determine shift time for the next day.
- Overtime after 8 hours/day. Expect lots of overtime in the warmer months & steady work during winter months.
- Saturday work is available & paid 1.5x regular rate.

Daily Tasks of the DZ Cement truck operators:
Job Task 1: Start of Day Tasks
- Obtain & wear PPE & Swipe card to start work
Job Task 2: Pre Trip Inspection Tasks
- Perform circle check of truck as per Highway Traffic Act.
- Open/close hood to check belts, hoses, wiring, stroke indicators & refill engine compartment fluids
- Cab compartment checks (horn, wipers, gauges, controls, steering wheel, pedals, etc.)
- Check around truck (lights, mirrors, tires, suspension, brakes, frame & body(mixer mount bolts ,etc.)
- Check truck fuel levels(diesel gas & diesel exhaust fluid) & refill if truck not filled night before
Job Task 3: Loading Point Tasks
- Add (Toss or place) fiber bags into drum if required
- Get truck loaded with ready mix material & Refill water side tank
- Retrieve ticket from designated Yard location
Job Task 4: Wash Down Truck at Plant Tasks
- Wash down rear of truck any any ground slurry
- Visually check ready mix material (size, slump & consistency) 1-3 times
- Make adjustments to ready mix (add water, additives, colours)
- Store cleaning equipment (Place hoses back on rack/store power washer)
- Stow flip ladder& flip chute & Communicate pre & post slump findings(radio usually)
Job Task 5: Travel to Job Site Tasks
- Drive ready mix truck & maintain contact with radio operator
Job Task 6: Negotiate Job Site Tasks
- Setup truck at work site
- Check site for hazards & communicate with site workers on were truck is to go
- Visually check ready mix before discharging load & make adjustments (add water if needed)
- Flip down flip chute & Obtain & hook up extension chutes (0-3 ext. chutes if required for job)
Unload ready mix material
- Position vehicle to dump point (signal man used on construction sites)
- Direct chute and ready mix flow using controls as requested
- Scrape excess material off chutes (if needed)
Job Task 7: Wash Down Truck at Job Site Tasks
- Drive truck away to designated wash area
- Wash down chutes, drum &rear of truck (use chute wash system if site requires it)
- Replace extension(Ext.) chutes & chute washing system bucket into side storage racks & secure (if used)
- Stow flip chute & flip ladder (if used) to travel positions & store used equipment (hose, pendant, etc.)
Job Task 8: Return to Plant Tasks
- Drive ready mix truck & maintain contact with radio operator
- External site visit to dumping excess material or block making if required (Repeat Job Tasks 6 & 7)
Job Task 9: End of Day Tasks
- Refill truck fuel levels(diesel & diesel exhaust fluid(DEF)) (if gas pump open)
- Drive to Block making area, then make blocks (if have excess material and if requested)
- Drive to Dump area, then Dump excess ready mix material (if have excess material
- Drive to Plant Wash-out Station , then Wash out mixer drum & drain effluent from truck
- Drive to Plant Wash-down Station, then wash down rear of truck
- Park truck & complete post trip inspection/paperwork & drop off keys and completed paperwork
