Job Specifics

Forty years ago, our client started with only one truck. Now the fleet has grown to 1500+! Today they stand as one of Canada’s largest privately held fleets, with capabilities to move freight all over the world. We are looking for divers to do cross border runs out of Mississauga, Cambridge or London, ON.



  • This division services all lower 48 states, Western Canada and Ontario and Quebec. 
  • They will mainly run a 300 – 500 mile radius from the terminal. 
  • Primary lanes of travel are states east of the Mississippi river, including East Coast States, mainly NJ, PA, VA and some midwest.
  • All dispatches are done in priority sequence based on driver, customer and load requirements. There is no forced New York City (Boroughs) dispatch. 
  • Our expectation is to have a minimum RDO of 5 full days of 24 hour availability or more. 
  • We like to run you according to your available hours and within legal requirements, which could mean running over the weekend. 

Following are some guidelines for determining home time for Single Drivers; 
  • 5 to 9 days working 2 days (48 hours home time) 
  • 10 to 15 days working 3 days (72 hours home time) 
  • 16 to 20 days working 4 days (96 hours home time) 
  • 21 to 25 days working 6 days (144 hours home time) 
  • Greater than 26 days working 7.5 days (180 hours home time) 

Other requirements/Expectations:
  • Abide by all D.O.T. and N.S.C. Safety regulations 
  • Complete all required paperwork for customs clearance 
  • Complete thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections 
  • Assist with loading and unloading as required 
  • Submission of legally accurate driver logs per trip envelope or completion of e-logs 
  • Although minimal, understand that customer delays or load cancellations occur. We will do everything within our control to lessen the impact on our drivers. 
  • Interior of the truck to be kept clean and free of unnecessary debris 
  • Submit completed trip envelopes in a timely fashion 
  • Ability to trip plan efficiently 
  • Commit yes to a preplan sent to you unless you are unable to safely and legally complete the load. 
  • Ability to drive various shifts/times, including at night 
  • Flexibility when it comes to home time 
  • Keep constant and open communications with your Driver Coordinator regarding availability, ETA updates, Hours of Service and resets, delays, etc. 
  • Inform the company of any road side inspections, traffic convictions, charges, accidents, etc. in regards to my driving record (personal or commercial vehicle) or my ability to cross the US border. 
  • Ability to travel in all U.S. States and Canadian Provinces 
  • Must have transportation to and from terminal as company equipment must remain parked in our yard(s) 

Payments:
  • $0.62/mile + accessorial payments
  • These accessorial payments include but are not limited to the following: 
  • Module Pay – will be paid to THE AGENCY as a pass through – pay rates vary based on the modules 
  • Live off load / Live load (paid 1 hour) 
  • Border delay (greater than 1 hour) 
  • Customer delay (greater than 1 hour) 
  • Trailer switch per occurrence at Customer location only o Loaded call switches 
  • Empty call trailer switches 
  • Switches on the road (one for one repowers) 
  • Breakdown pay – commencing after the first two (2) hours and subject for a maximum of 10 hours per day based on available hours of service and not applicable at home terminal 
  • Trailer washout (reefers) 
  • Layover pay per hour – idle for minimum of 24 hours and driver have travelled less than 150 miles to qualify for a maximum of 10 hours per day based on available hours of service and not applicable at home terminal
