1. Pay Schedule (CAD)
- To/From USA & Quebec: $0.65/mile
- To/From USA/Montreal & Ontario: $0.75/mile
- Long Haul Door Miles | Long-Haul (Multi-day): $0.70/mile
- Long-Haul (Multi-day) $\leftrightarrow$ Ontario | $0.75/mile
2. Surcharges & Accessorials

Drops & Picks: $20 per occurrence at ports, rail yards, or depots

Specialized Loads: $25 for Hazmat or Operating Reefers.

Wait Time: $25/hr after 2 hours of idle time for long-haul door moves.

Equipment Delay: $25/hr after 1 hour of waiting for roadside service.

Truck Unavailability: $25/hr (up to 8 hrs/day) if available to work but no truck is provided.

Layover: $75 for a 2nd night layover (requires dispatch authorization).

Additional Units: $75 for a 2nd container; $15 for USA pier genset mounts.
3. Operational Requirements

Routine: Expect overnight shifts (2–5 days) with resets typically on Saturdays.

Daily Tasks: Conduct pre/post-trip inspections, manage documentation, and execute dispatched moves from Montreal.

Wait Time Protocol: You must advise dispatch after 1 hour of waiting to be eligible for compensation.

Reefer Rules: Monitor digital temps; report immediately if the temperature varies by more than 5°C from the set point.

Hazmat Rules: Ensure the container has required placards and you have complete documentation in hand.

Expenses: Our client provides USA licenses, E-Z Pass, and CBP Transponders. Tolls are covered for the NY State Thruway via E-Z Pass.
4. Job description:

Shift Structure: Drivers typically run overnight shifts, spending 2 days on the road per trip.

Frequency: Most drivers complete up to 3 trips per week, though assignments can extend to 5 consecutive days based on customer needs.

Timing: Start times vary by freight availability and lane; hours are usually reset on Saturdays.

Routes: Work includes domestic and cross-border transport servicing ports, rail yards, warehouses, and container yards.
5. On-Road Responsibilities

Core Functions: Drivers perform pick, drop, hook, deliver, and return maneuvers

Compliance: Duties include navigating safety protocols, gate processes, and border/terminal procedures.

Documentation: Drivers are responsible for handling all load documentation, including specialized reefer or hazmat forms.
6. "Day in the Life" Workflow

Preparation: Receive dispatch instructions and conduct thorough pre-trip equipment inspections

Execution: Move containers from Montreal or Toronto to ports and customers across Canada and the U.S.

Transit: Spend at least one night out per trip while performing weigh station checks and border crossings.

Communication: Maintain contact with dispatch regarding operational issues or delays.
-
Conclusion: Drop the load, return equipment, and complete post-trip inspections and end-of-shift reports.
7. What's needed!
- Valid AZ / Class 1 licence
- Minimum 2 years verifiable AZ / Class 1 experience --> Container experience an asset
- No suspensions or downgrades in past 3 years
- Valid commercial medical
- Must pass pre-employment drug test
- Must consent to Fit for Duty / DOT requirements (if cross-border)
- Personal MVR (issued in last 30 days)
- Commercial abstract (CVOR / SAAQ / NSC)
- PSP report if U.S. experience
- TWIC card an asset if cross-border
- Not eligible if any of the following apply:
- Impaired driving history
- Major conviction within 36 months
- ≥ 3 MVR points
- More than 1 at-fault collision in past 36 months
- Any Out-of-Service order in past 12 months
- PSP showing HOS falsification, OOS violations, or unsafe driving patterns
